If he wants more NBA titles James should join Spurs, not Lakers

If superstar #LeBron James wants to add more NBA championships to his trophy case, then he should join the #San Antonio Spurs instead of the #Los Angeles Lakers in 2018. NBA analyst Chris Broussard told “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” that joining the Spurs will be the best move for James if he wants to win a fourth NBA crown. He already won two with the Miami Heat and one with the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to reports, James plans to leave the Cavaliers in 2018.

Broussard said Popovich is known for bringing the best out from players, for example, Dewayne Dedmon and Patty Mills, who recently agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with the Spurs.

Dedmon, for his part, signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks after just one season with the Spurs. While a move to the Spurs will be intriguing, Broussard said a move to the Lakers will make more sense from a career perspective for James, who has several businesses based in Los Angeles. LeBron’s wife also plans on moving to Los Angeles full-time.

James may pick Lakers over Spurs

However, Broussard said James may pick the Lakers over the Spurs as he cannot pass up the opportunity to mentor young point guard Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles’ No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 Draft. James was courtside when Ball tallied 36 points, 11 assists and eight boards to lead the Lakers to a 103-102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in the Las Vegas Summer League. James can also learn big business moves from Magic Johnson, who has ventured into several successful business opportunities since he retired from the NBA.

Ball called James the Michael Jordan of this generation

In an interview with ESPN, Ball called James the Michael Jordan of this generation and expressed excitement over playing against him in the coming season. “You know, growing up, that’s kind of like our Michael Jordan. So, you know, playing him, it’s going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to go out there and play him,” said Ball, who has been on tear since his awful Summer League debut. Ball has tallied two triple doubles and missed a third in their 115-106 win over the Brooklyn Nets in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Ball tallied 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to carry the Lakers to a semifinal berth in the tournament. Against the Nets, Lonzo wore Stephen Curry’s signature Under Armour kicks after wearing Nikes and Adidas in his first two games, instead of his Big Baller Brand ZO2s. LeBron even posted the Nikes that Lonzo wore during the Lakers’ game against the 76ers on his Instagram account
