The Heat and LeBron James had an incredible four-year run together. Each season led to an NBA Finals appearance and James won his first two titles on the sands of South Beach. He loves the area and has been known to spend his time off in Miami enjoying what it has to offer outside of basketball. Which is why it wasn’t surprising to see his latest Instagram post feature him catching some sun and hanging out in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. However, James’ caption reminiscing of his time with the Heat and memories made there led to speculation among fans of a potential Miami return once his current contract with Cleveland ends.
For all those that had anything to do with me being where I am today I jus wanna say THANK YOU! #Blessed #striveforgreatness
A ton of great memories riding past her today!! #AAA #striveforgreatness
However, while James seems happy to be back in Miami for vacation, that doesn’t mean he wants to return there for basketball. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat have received no indication that James wants to make a return to Miami.
Let’s look at next summer’s top potentially available names. LeBron James’ Instagram posts Saturday might raise hopes among some Heat fans of a James return, but the Heat does not believe James has serious interest in returning, with the thought that he will stay in Cleveland or go to the Lakers.
James is savvy enough to know that anything he does on social media is going to be overanalyzed. Especially at a time where his relationship with the Cavaliers could be at a rough patch after team owner Dan Gilbert fired the team’s general manager David Griffin. That said, this is nothing more than James reminiscing on the past. Let’s not look too much into it.
