Each day, NBA 2K releases a few more players’ ratings in anticipation for the upcoming NBA 2K18 release. Some players have been satisfied with their rating while others, like Kyrie Irving, have used it as motivation to go out and have a career year.
Then there’s D’Angelo Russell, who got straight up trolled by 2K with his lowly 80 overall rating, which is the same as some rookies!
That’s the same as Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz — both of whom have yet to even step on the court for an NBA game. That’s just a huge shot at Russell, to be honest.
There were a ton of people up in arms that believe Russell should have a higher rating, but to be honest, I’m a little surprised he was rated that high. My guess is Russell’s rating took a huge hit because of Magic Johnson’s leadership quote after he was traded away from the Lakers.
It’s also pretty unlikely that his leadership rating will go up any considering he’s stuck on the Nets.
He should get a chance to max out his other stats since he’ll be a primary option in Brooklyn next season. Maybe there’s still a little hope for Russell’s 2K rating after all.
